WHO South-East Asia Region recognises India’s public health achievements

At the 79th session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia in Dili, Timor-Leste, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus presented recognitions to Member States. India was recognised for placing more than 94 million people on protocol-based management of hypertension and diabetes, beyond its national target of 75 million. It was also recognised, with eight other countries, for sustaining the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda led India’s delegation.
